Special Characters in Class/Assignment Names
Special characters such as dashes, apostrophes, forward or backward slashes, commas, pound signs, asterisks, and periods should not be used when naming your class and assignment names.
These special characters will result in your students being unable to access their lessons and in teachers being unable to create assignments for that class. Only use letters and numbers and no special characters when creating your class or assignment name.

Default Assignments
A default assignment is an assignment created by the JEdI program if a teacher has not created and assigned an assignment for his or her students. The default assignment allows students to have access to all of the modules such as Reading Comprehension A and Reading Vocabulary C instead of being limited to what is assigned by the teacher.
Therefore, create an assignment prior to enrolling students into your classroom and give these assignments to the students enrolled in your class before they logon to the program.
Assigning Lessons
If a student is not given a specific assignment, the program defaults to assigning all pretests in the program. Please try the following steps to give a student(s) a specific assignment(s).
- After logging in, select Classes.
- Click on the Class you want to update and select Class Properties
- Select Assignments
- Select the assignment you want to give your students by checking the box next to the name of the assignment. Then select Give.
- You can either:
- Click on the name of the assignment on the top of the grid to give it to all students, or
- Click on the names of the student you wish to have the assignment.
- Finally, select Done.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Why can't I move beyond the first page of any lesson?
If you get the first screen of the lesson but are unable to continue to the next screen, you may have the wrong version of Flash installed. Flash Player 5 or higher is required to view lessons.
Flash Issues
Some of our modules are experiencing various problems with the new Flash 9 plug-in, specifically Reading Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Math.
If you are experiencing problems with Flash 9, please downgrade to version 8.
Here are the links you need to downgrade from Flash 9 to Flash 8:
Uninstallers to uninstall Flash 9
Installer for Flash 8
If after installing Flash 8, you run a lesson and it prompts you to upgrade to Flash 9:
- Open a Flash movie.
- Right click on it.
- Select "Settings".
- Select "Advanced"
This opens up the browser to what appears to be a help page, but is actually a Flash settings page. - Select "Global Notifications Settings Panel."
- Uncheck "Notify me when an update to Adobe Flash Player is available"
Incomplete Scores
Why are my lesson and pre-test scores displayed as Incomplete?
You may not have clicked Go On at the end of your lesson.
You must click Go On at the end of any test or lesson for your score to be recorded.
Your score WILL NOT be recorded if you click the close box in the upper, right corner.
(Note: Tests have a Review Button. You must complete the review before your test results will be stored. Otherwise you will receive an incomplete and no lessons will be prescribed.)
You may have lost your connection to the Internet while taking your lesson.
Running Reports
Trouble running reports? It could be your "Pop Up Blocker".
The reports are Adobe PDF documents, and will appear in a new window. These are often seen as Pop Ups by many browsers, and are blocked.
Most blockers will let you change setting to allow "Pop Ups" from trusted sites. Set yours to allow Pop Ups from www.skillstutor.com or have your IT person help you.
Meanwhile, try holding down the "Control" key when clicking on the last "continue" for your report. This should bypass the blocker.
